A Story Worth Telling
I am the oldest sister of Asa Dunnington. My brother has always been a good writer. He wrote for the high school football games. He has always had a terrific memory. Those are the gifts God has given him. I read his book, Selectively Lawless. It is very well written. I could hardly put it down. I am going to read it again. It is that good. Anyone would enjoy reading it. My sister and I are so blessed to have him for our brother.

As a personal friend of the author, I have been getting little tidbits about his book project for the last several months. By the time it was published, my curiosity had reached a peak; and I ordered it as soon as I could. I was not disappointed! I totally enjoyed reading about Emmett Long and the very unusual path that his life took. One of the pre-publication reviews which I read said that the book was written as though it were being told to a group around a campfire. Perhaps that is what I liked most…the easy-to-read conversational style. It made me feel that I was reading a story about someone that I knew (rather than reading a history book). Five stars from me!

This was a very entertaining read. My family goes back many generations with the Long family so some of the story came as no surprise. I was too young to know the moonshiner Emmet but I did get to spend time with the New Mexico Emmitt. Plus my great grandfather had tales of helping to count the pillow case money at different times. Thank you for writing this.

Really enjoyed this book. Asa has a great writing style and the story is just amazing. The fact that the story is more or less a biography of a relative makes it even more fascinating. An easy read that keeps your interest all the way through. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it.

I started this book on my vacation and couldn’t put it down. Emmett Long’s journey through life was a tumultuous, exciting and sometimes scary journey. Asa Dunnington did an excellent job of drawing us into this man’s life. Rarely do I say this but I sure hope this becomes a movie! I’ll definitely pay to see it.
